Ministries of Community
Church
The Buildings & Grounds Ministry is responsible for making our church building and grounds an inviting place for everyone in the community. This ministry functions under the Men's Breakfast Group.
The Christian Education Ministry is responsible for providing an inviting caring atmosphere for children, youth, and adults to learn about Jesus' plan for their lives. We are responsible for the church nursery and offer Sunday School during Sunday morning worship, a LOGOS mid-week children's program for school age children, and Vacation Bible School in summer. In addition, we work with the Worship and Spiritual Growth Ministry to provide adult study groups.
The Congregational Care Ministry seeks to help congregation members and friends through difficult times - taking meals to those in crisis, visiting shut-ins, etc.
The Evangelism Ministry seeks to reach out to spread the "Good News of Christ" to new people and promote intergenerational fellowship in the local church. We are responsible for welcoming visitors, arranging for Sunday morning fellowship, and reaching out to the community through special events open to the public, maintaining our website, and providing news articles to local papers.
The Stewardship & Finance Ministry tends to the financial sustenance of the various ministries of Community Church through encouraging stewardship of all of God's creation, establishing a budget and managing the resources of Community Church, encouraging tithing among our membership, arranging for annual pledging by our members, and supporting special fund-raising efforts by various church groups.
The Wider Mission Ministry lends help and support to those within our church, community, and world as Christ would have us do. We are known as a five by five congregation in the United Church of Christ, supporting the church's wider mission, one great hour of sharing, seminary support, neighbors in need, and assistance to retired pastors and their families. In addition, we conduct four blood drives annually, support various local charities, local food pantries, and missionaries, help resettle refugee families through Exodus World Service, and sponsor special projects as needed.
The Worship and Spiritual Growth Ministry seeks to encourage and help each person associated with Community Church to build their spiritual lives through providing meaningful worship services and support to music groups and works in cooperation with the Chancel Team to care for chancel furnishings and arrangements and setting up for Holy Communion. We also work with the Christian Education Ministry to establish study groups.
